Hana Janatová

MMUS, NCTM

A woman with shoulder-length brown hair smiling while playing a black and white piano.

With a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Utah (2011), Hana Janatová has actively taught piano students the art of playing for over 35+ years as a permanently certified teacher of music through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

Ms. Janatová has consistently searched for music that bridges the gap between classical and non – classical listeners. A firm supporter of the arts, she believes that education in music and the fine arts is an inherent right and not a privilege. For over forty years, Ms. Janatová is actively involved in the music field, from performance and education to arts administration and management.

Ms. Janatová believes in the excellence of teaching, and maintaining the highest standards of private music instruction. In addition to teaching, Hana serves as a consultant for non-profit arts organizations and performs as a free-lance and collaborative pianist.

In 2006, Ms. Janatová founded the Mundi Project, a 501 (C)(3) organization whose mission is to provide open access to pianos, piano education and performance opportunities to all youth throughout Utah. She served as Executive Director until 2018.

As an educator and administrator, Hana served as director of the Tucson Parks and Recreation piano program(1992-1994); developed a piano lab program at East High School (Salt Lake City, UT) for the Youth Enrichment Foundation (2008-2011), and taught group piano at the University of Utah (2007-2009).

While residing in Utah, Ms. Janatová served on the Utah Music Teachers Association state board as Arts Advocacy Chair, and has presented at several state conferences including the MTNA national Conference regarding the importance of building community through music and the arts.

Hana was the recipient of a Yamaha Fellowship from the College Music Society (2011) for her work with Mundi Project’s Ambassador mentorship program. Upon completion of graduate school, Hana received a Leadership Management Certification from the Nonprofit Academy of Excellence (2012) and in 2018 certified as a Change Leader through the Utah Division of Arts and Museums.
